A Spanish Town Young Men Development Program

Problem

 

Young men in Spanish town are being influenced in a negative way during their free time by peers and older person, this program intervenes to break that cycle..

 

 

Goal

 

To empower young men to become productive, educated citizens.

Time Table

 

Time Table - 6 months.  15 years old only. 20 young men Pilot Program. Students will be drawn from the various area schools. Classes will be held from Monday through Thursday. Thursday will be a field Trip.

 

 

The Educational Unit Consists of

 

Introduction to computers, 2.  Literacy, 3. Spanish

 

 

Ethics Unit      

Field Trips to a number of institutions such as the National Library, National Gallery,

 

 

The Motivational Unit Consists of

 

Lecturers, Video Clippings, Reading

 

 

Civics Unit

Rights and Duties of the Citizens; History of Jamaica; Police and Citizen Relationships;

 

The Role and functions of the various government Ministries, Role of the Parish Council

 

 

Career Opportunities

 

Participation in workshops offering career opportunities

 

 

Young Men Support Group

 

This is where young men come together to discuss various issues and find solutions.
