| Job Summary: |
The incumbent's role is to advice the Parish Council
in relation to parochial roads and works.
Specifically, he/she will be responsible for

The incumbent will be required to furnish plans,
specifications and estimates of such works, repairs
and or alterations.
He/she, upon the direction of the Council, carry
out and superintend the carrying out such works,
repairs and or alterations as may be sanctioned by the
Council some shall be paid for.
The incumbent shall have care, protection,
maintenance and supervision of all roads, buildings,
works, live & rolling stocks and all other
properties owned, controlled or in possession of the
Council and shall be responsible for all expenditure
in connection with the Roads and Works Department. |

and to ensure that all personnel assigned to the
Department of Administrative Services (DAS) are
effectively deployed and supervised in carrying out
the task and activities necessary to satisfactorily
discharge all goals, targets and standards established
in respect to the Department. |

needs such as increases to rentals, reduction
in operation and maintenance costs for all
commercial entities operated by the Council; |

Identify, develop and prepare for management
evaluation, recommendation aimed at increasing
efficiency and revenues and lowering costs; |

Ensures that all staff employed to the Unit
are complying with the organizations policies,
standards and procedures as it relates to such
functions as safe-keeping of funds. |

Reviews operational records to ascertain
conformity with expected revenue and
operational standards; |

Recommends capital expenditure for
acquisition of new equipment which would
increase efficiency and services of
operations; |

Undertaking routine and regular visits to
all commercial entities operated by the
Council to ensure conformance with established
performance standards; |

Develop, prepare and submit for approval

business which are aimed at generating

Liaise with business operators and formulate
joint ventures relating to the collection,
recording, safekeeping and lodging of funds
are always adhered to; |

Prepares monthly financial statements and
reports on the performance of each commercial
entity and provides adequate explanations for
any significant variance from projected
targets; |

Inspect physical facilities for such factors
as cleanliness, safety and appearance and take
required action to ensure maintenance of
required standards; maximizing the use of the
budget; |

Develop and recommend to customers of the
Council's commercial properties, strategies,
methods and mechanism which can be adopted to
improve the sale of their products, produce
and services; |

Investigate complaints from customers and
effect the required corrective measures. |

POOR RELIEF DEPARTMENT IS CHARGED

The Poor Relief
Department is the welfare agency of the Ministry of Local Government,
Youth and Community Development (M.L.G.Y.C.D). It is administered
through the Parish Councils within each parish. The mandate of the
department is to alleviate destitution in a professional manner.
"The persons
entitled to relief in any parish are the persons within the parish who
are wholly destitute of the means of subsistence, and are at the same
time from medical or physical causes unable to work and earn the means
of subsistence." Persons under 60 years of age must produce a
medical certificate, to indicate that they are unable to work. The
certificate can also state that the person is suffering from a
"terminal illness".
